Installation of Varivane sponsored “elephant pump”

We are pleased to announce that our well and water pump has been built by the Africa Trust, and is now providing up to 10,000 litres of water per day. The pump is located in Manicaland, a north eastern province of Zimbabwe.

Typically around 300 people benefit from each pump that is installed, this varying from day to day, season to season, and pump to pump.

The water is used for drinking and domestic consumption, for washing, watering livestock, and for irrigating vegetable gardens.

The pump was funded by our association with AquAid - to date AquAid have built over 5,000 such Elephant Pumps across parts of Zimbabwe, Malawi and Liberia; and have donated in excess of £10 million to charity.

We hope that we have helped to make a long lasting improvement to the lives of the local population.
